Virginia Melnyk

Virginia Melnyk

Virginia Melnyk is a designer researcher and educator. She creates soft architecture and deployable structures, envisioning a new approach to architecture that prioritizes flexibility, responsiveness, and integration with human movement. By combining dynamic scissor mechanisms with soft knitted textiles, her research challenges traditional architectural paradigms, proposing instead a vision of adapt and transformable forms in response to human body and the environment. These ideas are explored through a series of interconnected projects, the research testing how these elements can create forms that are both materialistically innovative and deeply responsive to human interaction.
