Vagina Cushion

Vagina Cushion

Ip Gim is an artist's collective that has pioneered feminist activist art practice in the 2000s in South Korea. Vagina Cushion, a genital-shaped cushion made by hand with strong pink color and soft fabrics, was produced first for the Abandung Project, and displayed 19 years later in 2019 at an exhibition titled Between the Lines. Ip Gim Collective has actively developed the uterus/vagina icons to subvert the symbolic space of patriarchal cultures. The collective utilizes a variety of materials to tear down the boundary and overthrow the hierarchy between art and craft, and sophisticated art and raw art.
