Stalled!

Stalled!

Launched in 2016 in response to national controversies around transgender access to public restrooms, Stalled! is a design/research initiative dedicated to the design and implementation of safe and accessible inclusive restroom and locker room prototypes and guidelines that meet the intersecting needs of people of different genders, races, religions and disabilities. "Stalled! takes as its point of departure national debates surrounding transgender access to public restrooms to address an urgent social justice issue: the need to create safe, sustainable and inclusive public restrooms for everyone regardless of age, gender, race, religion and disability." The Stalled! initiative follows a different approach from that of lawyers, journalists, politicians, and activists who all accept the norm of sex segregated men’s and women’s restrooms and locker rooms as an inevitability.
