"This mobile solar manufactory is an artistic research project by Irene Lucas on the possibilities of developing an energy self-sufficient cooking laboratory in a public space. The energy crisis is on everyone's lips. The search for innovative, energy-saving cooking methods is therefore also an explosive field. The mobile solar manufactory shows an easy way to meet basic needs with scarce resources and simple analogue technologies. The fact that the act of cooking (and eating) takes place outside on the street creates a strong social moment, also because the futuristic appearance of the cooking appliances attracts people and brings them into dialogue with each other. At the same time, the image of a kitchen without electricity creates a utopian feeling of freedom. Processing local products with free and clean solar energy and thus publicly offering the image of a micro-political actionism of everyday life emphasises an important social concern of the project."
