Senga Nengudi
Senga Nengudi
Senga Negudi creates performances, installations, and landscapes “out of materials that are discards and commonplace.” Her installations involve issues of “time and personal change...utilizing masking tape, gravel, dirt, newspapers...and found stuff.” Her work is informed by personal experiences, folklore, and Black culture. One piece in particular, RSVP I, was a performative installation of entangled and stretched pantyhose - a commentary on Nengudi's first pregnancy and her changing body throughout.
