Mujeres Creando
Mujeres Creando
Mujeres Creando is an “anarchist feminist movement created in 1990 in La Paz, Bolivia. It is made up of women from different cultural, social and ethnic origins, and uses creativity as an instrument of resistance and social participation. The three women who founded this community proposal (María Galindo, Julieta Paredes and Mónica Mendoza) worked together to recover the public space appropriated by the patriarchal system... The expressive forms of Mujeres Creando are graffiti, creativity, constant public debates and actions, along with a strong presence in the streets to claim their voice and participation in the public sphere. Since its beginnings, the group has been part of international meetings, dialoguing with different feminist trends, with which it has built its own ideological identity within autonomous feminism, in contrast and in connection with global struggles.” Two of their co-founders are also open lesbian activists.
