La Correa Feminista

La Correa Feminista

La Correa Feminista was one of the most important feminist publishing practices throughout Mexico centered on feminist thought. Founded in 1991 by CICAM (Centro de Investigación y Capacitación de la Mujer, 'Center for Women's Research and Empowerment' in English), the publication highlighted “the complexity of the relations between feminist theory, feminist activism, and national politics in Mexico.” Translated to 'Feminist Whip,' the practice was made up of freelance writers through Latin America and the United States with one core mission in mind: sharing feminist theories on political issues to an economically diverse readership. Different from other publications at the time, CICAM made the publication accessible not just through purchase, but through a distribution exchange system with other feminist organizations, breaking boundaries between feminist theorists differing in context, region, and class.
