Feminist Park Collective

"The Feminist Park Project challenges the notion that green urban spaces are neutral, revealing how these areas often reflect the biases of those who designed them—predominantly white, straight, cisgender men. While seemingly inviting, these parks often fail to meet the needs of women, non-binary individuals, and marginalized communities. Our mission is to address these gender disparities, reimagining parks as inclusive spaces that serve everyone. Fernández Núñez observed that urban parks often prioritize men’s needs, leaving others sidelined. The Feminist Park Project aims to change this by infusing public spaces with diverse voices and experiences, ensuring everyone feels seen, safe, and valued. Through events like discussions, picnics, and workshops, we promote intersectional eco-feminism, environmental justice, and anti-racist green urban spaces. This global movement is growing, with feminist researchers from Italy, Spain, and Mexico joining us to transform their urban landscapes. We invite you to contribute to this mission by sharing your vision in our survey. Together, we can create inclusive, empowering parks that reflect and serve the diverse needs of all communities."
