Ask Aphrodite + Snatchural History of Copper

Ask Aphrodite + Snatchural History of Copper

In a series of performances, Marisa Moran Jahn conjures her alter ego, Aphrodite, goddess of love and copper. Addressing the audience as lovers and threats, Jahn uses the language of relationships to explore resource extraction and mineral dependency. Through writings, performances, installations, and exhibitions, Jahn traces the intertwined history of copper and femininity from modern IUDs to devices to contraceptives from 400 BCE Rome, exploring the idea of intimacy: the mediation of intimacy through technology.
