Ana Salom Farré’s Map of Architectural Practice

A tapestry map by Ana Salom Farré, which she produced as a response to the 2022 callout by Architectural Review, asking young architects "their ideas, their resilience, and their energy, and in particular their emergence into a profession that has much to learn, and leaves much to be desired in the form of support, stability and care."

"Excited by the prospect of playing with the format, as encouraged in the callout, Ana Salom Farré chose a map to convey her thoughts, as it seemed to her to be ‘an object that speaks not only of space but also of time, that envelops the places where you have been, where you are right now or where you want to go’. Its winding paths stem from a list of reminders she wishes to keep with her as she navigates the architectural profession. By translating these reminders into cartographic symbols, Salom Farré spatialises her vision of the industry, and her place within it, weaving her hopes, fears and aims into the two-dimensional landscape."
