Sowing Solidarity

Sowing Solidarity

The Delft Sowing Solidarity gathering is part of FSP International Solidarity, a new FSP initiative connecting feminist spatial practices worldwide through locally led events that foster collective space-making, knowledge sharing and transnational exchange.

The gathering marks the end of the BK-Feminist Week: Woman in Polycrisis at the Architecture Faculty of the TU Delft and is co-hosted by BK-Feminist (TUDelft, Netherlands) and PAF (Platform for Architecture and Feminism, Belgium).

The session begins with a workshop led by Mexican craftswoman and textile artist Dian Soto Vega to create a feminist protest banner through fabric collage. Dian’s practice works with fabric and thread as living matter, as carriers of memory, migration, and collective history. Through quilts and soft textile forms, she explores how material can hold orientation, belonging, and intergenerational knowledge. By working with textile–a medium historically associated with women’s labor–she repositions craft as a site of knowledge, resistance, and collective agency. Participants of the collaborative workshop will translate the week’s reflections on solidarity and polycrisis into symbols, text, and stitched forms, producing a collective statement that is both material and political.

The hands-on workshop is followed by the second part of the session in which Dutch architect Renske Maria van Dam will launch FSP International Solidarity. This part of the program takes place in a hybrid format and features in-person and online contributions from Mamuma Iqbal (Women in Architecture Pakistan), Lýdia Grešáková (Spolka, Slovakia), Lindsay Harkema (FSP, USA), Ishita Shah (Curating for Culture, India), Irene Luque Martin (BK Feminist Week, Netherlands), Evelien Pieters (PAF, Belgium), Defne Saysel (FSP, Belgium), and Bryony Roberts (FSP, USA).

Don’t hesitate to spread the work and invite your friends. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
