A Dialogue Beyond the Blueprints
A Dialogue Beyond the Blueprints

In collaboration with the Feminist Spatial Practices’ International Solidarity Program, researchers from the Women of Vaastukala Archive and Curating for Culture are bringing together diverse practitioners and readers from across borders to reflect on how we can reshape the ways to teach and learn placemaking. The event asks how questions of agency, care, resilience, and regional context can be brought into architectural education and practice, along with what methods and forms of knowledge are necessary to look beyond conventional design pedagogies.
The workshop will begin with short presentations and reflections by members of the Feminist Spatial Practices network, followed by presentations of invited practitioners from India. These interactions will then be directed towards a workshop, where participants will engage with project processes and experiences presented at the exhibition, and examine how feminist approaches emerge through actual practices of listening, understanding, and making different kinds of spaces. Participants will work in smaller groups to reflect on all they have heard, seen, and experienced, and collaboratively identify the questions, principles, and pedagogical approaches that emerge from these experiences. The workshop aims to create a manifesto (or its explorations) for feminist spatial pedagogies, presenting a co-created framework that can critically transform how space and place-making are taught and practised, both regionally and globally.
This event is a part of the exhibition Expanding Agency and Archival Silences: Gender in the Built Environment, which will be presented at the Bangalore International Centre, Domlur, from 4th to 8th September 2026.
The curatorial initiative is organized by @curatingforculture in collaboration with VIT School of Architecture @vsparcmakes, PATIO Network @patio.network, the Omitted from History project @building.pune and the Women of Vaastukala Archive.
